Nantucket Builders Association

Founded in 1996 and now celebrating 30 years of service, the Nantucket Builders Association (NBA) represents more than 300 Island-based licensed tradespeople, along with professionals involved in Nantucket’s broader building services and supplier community.

Our membership reflects the full spectrum of a typical design–build project, including general contractors, architects, surveyors, excavators, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC specialists, electricians, insulators, fuel suppliers, and other construction-related professionals. Town building officials and community leaders are also active participants. The organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors.

The NBA meets monthly to support its core mission of education, collaboration, and professional networking. For more than 20 years, we have helped local contractors obtain and maintain their Construction Supervisor Licenses through training programs and state-approved continuing education workshops.

Each year, the NBA hosts 6–12 courses covering the core requirements of the Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License, including: Energy, Code Review, Workplace Safety and Business Practices.

Since 2001, the NBA has also proudly supported Nantucket High School graduates through its scholarship program. These scholarships assist students pursuing college, vocational education, or formal training related to the building trades, helping cover tuition costs and essential start-up tools.

Nantucket Builders Association Announces Leadership Transition and New Board Members
(March 18, 2026)

The Nantucket Builders Association (NBA) is pleased to announce several leadership updates for 2026, reflecting both continuity and new energy within the organization.

Last month, Mark Stanley was elected President of the NBA, succeeding Frank Daily, who has served as President since 2020. Daily will remain actively involved in the organization, transitioning into the role of Vice President alongside Eugene Shubin.

During his tenure as President, Frank Daily played a pivotal role in advocating for Nantucket’s local trades, helping the industry navigate and maintain continuity of work through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mark Stanley, Sales Manager at Marine Home Center, has served on the NBA Board of Directors since 2017. In his new role as President, Stanley is focused on strengthening member engagement, expanding both educational and social opportunities, and fostering a stronger sense of community within the organization.

The NBA also extends its sincere gratitude to Steve Roethke, who is stepping back from his role as Vice President. Steve has dedicated 22 years of service to the organization and will remain on the Board of Directors as a key advisor, continuing to provide valued insight and leadership.

Additionally, the NBA is pleased to welcome two new members to the Board of Directors:
  • Tom Garrette, Owner of Hanley Construction and Development
  • Chuck Lenhart, now operating Charles Lenhart Architect as a solo design and construction consulting firm after serving as a principal of Sandcastle Construction for 37 years.
The Nantucket Builders Association remains committed to supporting the local building industry through education, advocacy, and professional collaboration, and looks forward to continued growth under its new leadership.

What our Members say

As a local builder I think the NBA is a great organization to be a part of... to network with other tradesmen and keep current on evolving code changes. The CEU courses are interesting and the food is always great!
