Learn about membership

Nantucket Builders Association

The NBA represents over 300 Island-based Licensed Tradesmen, as well as others involved in the local building services and supplier community. Our membership is a balanced representation of a typical design-build experience, such as: general contractors, architects, realtors, surveyors, excavators, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC specialists, electricians, insulators, fuel suppliers, insulators, as well as Town building officials and community leaders. The organization is overseen by a board of directors.

We meet monthly as an organization to carry out the NBA's core objectives, such as providing an opportunity for industry education and networking with our colleagues. For over twenty years we have provided a Construction Supervisor Training program to help local contractors gain and retain their licenses.

In 2012, the NBA was approved by the BBRS of the MA Department of Public Safety to provide courses leading to Continuing Education Credits. Every year, we host 6-12 Continuing Education workshops, which span the core requirements of the Construction Supervisor License.

Since 2001, the NBA has provided scholarship support for Nantucket High School graduates who express a desire for college or vocational school education or  formal training to further their understanding and skills in the building industry. Scholarships have been applied to tuition & start-up tools. NBA also provides financial & technical support for Cyrus Pierce Middle School (CPS) & Nantucket High School(NHS) Wood Working & Construction Technology Programming.

Frank Daily named as new President of the Nantucket Builders Association!

(June 26, 2021) The Board of Directors is proud to announce that Frank Daily has been elected as the NBA's new President.  He will be taking over the position from Vin Raimo, who dutifully served the association for many years with thoughtful leadership, measure, and clear focus.

During the height of the pandemic, Frank's work with local leadership as a voice of our industry not only represented our Board and Association with thoughtful care and professionalism, but helped to bolster the entire local trade industry and their livelihoods

We are proud of what we achieved together during this turbulent time with the support of Frank's
meaningful contributions, and look forward to his new tenure as President!

Free Firewood Program!

Picture
Builders, please consider sorting out your burnable wood
Making this wood available to provide heat:
  • Reduces the vast amount of waste entering our landfill
  • Reduces cost of waste disposal
  • Helps someone turn this ‘waste’ into heat
  • Reduces non-renewable energy use on island
  • Reduces the island’s overall carbon footprint

Banners to designate a ‘Free Firewood’ box or area on your job site are available at no cost by contacting Karen@reusexchange.com

What our Members say

As a local builder I think the NBA is a great organization to be a part of... to network with other tradesmen and keep current on evolving code changes. The CEU courses are interesting and the food is always great!
